The club has a uniform to help us look organised and to present a professional aesthetic to the world. Clubs with a uniform tend to be taken more seriously by venue managers, by onlookers and potential students, and they also tend to have significantly better-looking photographs and videos! We do not mandate specific items or brands of clothing, just a colour scheme to keep everyone looking unified.
The club uniform is black trousers (or leggings or shorts) with a blue shirt. The shirt can be a t-shirt, a long-sleeved shirt, an athletic shirt or compression shirt, as you prefer – but the club colour is blue.
If you prefer to have knee-length trousers and long socks, then the trousers should be black, and the socks should be either black or dark/royal blue.
There is a blue club t-shirt available to purchase through our online shop. It is not a mandatory part of the uniform, and many people prefer to wear compression shirts of some sort, but it’s always nice to have the option of a club shirt!
Footwear
In terms of footwear, please bring sensible indoor shoes. Thin-soled shoes are particularly good for this sort of martial art; trainers are fine, but they can cover for bad habits, whereas thin-soled shoes force you to address problems and fix them nice and early!
Guests from other clubs
If you are a guest, visiting from another club, please do wear your own club’s preferred uniform, and take pride in showing where you learned to fence.
