Sometimes our members will have upgraded their equipment, and will be happy to sell on their second-hand gear. As long as the equipment is in sufficiently good condition, buying things used and second-hand can be quite a good idea and can make it much cheaper to get yourself kitted out.
Please make sure you are familiar with the terms of use for this page and the terms of sales as far as we are concerned in the matter.
Terms of use and sales
- This page can be used so that prospective buyers know who to talk to about buying second-hand equipment.
- If you would like some of your old equipment to be listed here, then please get in touch with us and provide all the relevant details about the item.
- We may refuse to list items that are not suitable for our club activities.
- Please also note that the page can only be kept up to date and correct if people let us know that items are available or have been sold; an item being mentioned on this page is no guarantee that it is still available.
- The club will not buy your equipment to sell it onward, although individuals might.
- The club is not involved in any of these sales. Agreements will be strictly between the buyer and seller as individuals.
- The club will also not hold any records about any sales. It is up to the buyer and seller to ensure that all appropriate paperwork is exchanged and that all appropriate records are kept.
- Items should be described as accurately as possible. However, you should view the item before committing to a purchase. If there is a problem after the purchase, talk to the seller; however, there is no law requiring a refund when buying from a private individual.
- We would recommend selling used equipment to club members so that it stays in use within the club. You can of course sell your gear to whoever you want, but keeping it within the club means that we all have more training partners with more gear!
- Listing on this page is generally limited to club members, but we might make an exception if we know you from your visits to us.
- If any agreement is made about a training sword, the seller should ensure that all relevant laws are followed – for example, it being illegal to sell to under-18s (they must be able to prove their age), and only selling to people who have public liability insurance for being a member of a proper martial arts club (ie they can show you their club membership card).
