Today is the third anniversary of the club opening – Liverpool HEMA is now three years old as a group!
This last year has been somewhat dominated by three months or so of coronavirus and therefore not being able to meet in person. However, we have rallied and have been running some virtual training sessions instead, and we are now at the stage where we can start trying to lay some plans for reopening once the venue gives us the green light.
We were having a pretty successful year before all of this, though. Another group of assistant coaches finished their training course and became instructors in the group. More people joined the club and we broke our record of how many people we had in a class not just once, and not just twice, but several times! Some nights we were rather short on space because of the number of people in the hall.
We also continued to forge strong relations with other clubs in the North West, with people coming to play with us from Manchester on a regular basis, and making links with the university club in Chester. Hopefully we will continue to meet with other clubs in the region to be able to exchange ideas and to grow our skills together.
But a club cannot be successful without great people who turn up as often as they can, to train and to play together. Thank you to everyone who has helped to make the club what it is, and hopefully we will be able to come together again soon!
